Congratulations 2019 FCM Scholarship Recipients!

One of the highlights at Farm Credit Midsouth is the annual presentation of 14 scholarships worth $1,000 each to outstanding undergraduates. Each student was chosen based on a combination of academic, extracurricular, agricultural, and leadership achievement. We congratulate this year’s honorees on a job well done and wish them the best of luck in college and beyond.

The winners of our 2019 Summer Photo Contest have been announced. These winning photos may be featured in: Across Our Midsouth newsletter, calendar, FCM website, and you may even see some photos hanging in your local branch offices.

Farm Credit donates $50,000 to Arkansas Red Cross flood relief

Farm Credit made a $50,000 donation to the Arkansas Red Cross on July 3. The funds will assist Arkansans impacted by recent flooding along the Arkansas River. Thirty-one counties along the Arkansas portion of the river system sustained damage from late May and early June flooding.

Farmer Veterans Bring Their Story to Washington

Farmer veterans shared their unique perspective with policymakers in Washington, D.C., July 11-12 as part of a fly-in organized by Farm Credit. More than 60 farmer veterans who are Farm Credit customers or Farm Credit employees who are veterans visited with key lawmakers and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to highlight the role of veterans in agriculture and talk about the needs of servicemen and women as they transition from military to careers in agriculture.

Arkansas Agriculture Department and Farm Credit to Provide Homegrown by Heroes Scholarships

The Arkansas Agriculture Department and Farm Credit are partnering to provide six $1,000 Homegrown by Heroes academic scholarships to military veterans, currently serving military personnel, and their spouses or children who are pursuing an agricultural or an agricultural-related degree. Funding for the scholarships is generously provided by Farm Credit. Online applications are available, and are due August 17, 2018.

Farm Credit Midsouth Executive to Retire After 35 Years of Service

Randy Kingston, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of Farm Credit Midsouth, has announced his retirement effective June 29, 2018.

Arkansas Grown School Garden of the Year Contest Open Through September 14

School entries are being accepted for the fifth annual Arkansas Grown School Garden of the Year Contest sponsored by the Arkansas Agriculture Department (AAD) and Farm Credit. Applicants may be any Arkansas school, grades pre-K through 12, that had a school garden open during the 2017-2018 school year, or any schools planning to start a garden in the 2018-2019 school year.

Farm Credit Shows Support for the Arkansas Beef Project

The Arkansas Beef Project, a program of the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, is the beneficiary of what has become a generous annual donation from three Arkansas Farm Credit associations. Michelle Shope, Alliance director of food sourcing and logistics, accepted a check for $5,300 from Mike Williams, Farm Credit Midsouth, and Lana Stovall, AgHeritage Farm Credit Services, and Jill Robertson, Farm Credit of Western Arkansas, to help support this innovative hunger relief program.

In his new role, Williams will manage and lead branch management teams, as well as working with internal teams to ensure Farm Credit Midsouth is providing the highest quality services to its customers.
