History

Farm Credit Midsouth (part of the Farm Credit System) began in 1917 from rather humble beginnings at organizational meetings and at county courthouses throughout Eastern Arkansas. First as the National Farm Loan Association, then came new names and organizations over an 84 year period -  Federal Land Bank Associations, Production Credit Associations and finally in 2001 Farm Credit Midsouth, ACA. While structure and name changes have occurred, the organizational concept today is much the same as it was 84 years ago.

Farm Credit Midsouth is a farmer owned financial cooperative extending credit to creditworthy farmers and other eligible borrowers for real estate, term and operating credit.  The Board of Directors is comprised of 12 elected farmers and one appointed Outside director.

While the scope of eligibility to the borrower has been expanded to rural residences and agribusiness, production agriculture is still the primary objective.

Today, Farm Credit Midsouth serves over 2,000 farmer members with loans totaling over $460 million in ten Eastern Arkansas Counties and three Missouri Counties.

The Association is a decentralized lender, placing authority at the loan officers level, the point closest to the member.

Branch offices are maintained in most of the ten counties for the convenience of the membership and are staffed with an experienced lending staff.

Farm Credit Midsouth has a rich heritage and we are pleased to serve the agriculture community of Eastern Arkansas.
